Government information, made easier.
You shouldn’t need to know which department handles your question before you can ask it. Ask Australia helps you find relevant government information and understand where to go next.
Ask in your own words
When AI is connected, DeepSeek uses excerpts retrieved from selected official pages to explain Australian government services, suggest next steps and link to the sources. You can ask follow-up questions and choose an answer language. Selecting your state or territory helps distinguish national services from local rules.
What you can use today
AI answers are not connected yet. English questions currently match pages in our curated directory. These matches are links to explore, not generated advice or a live check of government websites.
Another way to get started
If you prefer to browse, choose a life situation and a task to find official starting points. Applications, account access and eligibility decisions stay with the relevant agency.
Independent, with official sources
Ask Australia is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Australian Government. The information comes from official pages; the explanations, when available, are generated by AI.
Evidence comes first
If an answer cannot be supported by official sources, the assistant should say so. Fees, dates and eligibility can change; check the linked agency page before acting. AI can make mistakes even when a source is cited.
Coverage
AI answers select relevant pages from our official website collection and page-address index, then read up to three starting pages and six detail pages. The server reads HTTPS gov.au pages only. This is a bounded source selection, not a comprehensive web search: services outside the directory or other domains may not be covered. If pages are unavailable or lack the necessary evidence, the assistant should say so. The service provides information, not legal, financial or medical advice.
